Fall Highlights in Eastcore

This fall, neighbors across Eastcore gathered through shared work, shared meals, and new traditions. These activities created space for connection and helped strengthen relationships throughout the neighborhood.

Fall Neighborhood Cleanup

Eastcore’s Neighborhood Fall Cleanup took place on Saturday, October 4. Six neighbors volunteered to help with the event, and more than 30 residents participated by bringing items to dispose of or reuse.

As with the Spring Cleanup, neighbors hosted a swap table where usable items were shared and taken home by others. Remaining items were delivered to Community Action House by one of their volunteers. Three dumpsters were filled during the cleanup, along with three trailers of recycled metal. Evergreen Commons partnered with the neighborhood by providing use of their parking lot for the event.

Resident Leadership Groups

Several resident-led groups continue to support connection and shared care in Eastcore.

The Tulip City Walls Mural Festival Planning Committee includes nine members, five of whom live in the Eastcore neighborhood. The committee met in October and November to begin planning for the festival scheduled for August 20 through August 22, 2026.

The Eastcore Linear Park group is an informal team of 19 residents led by neighbor Dave Appeldoorn. The group stewards the public garden space between 14th and 20th Streets and is preparing to begin work again in the spring.

The Eastcore Dream Team includes eight neighborhood residents who help bring neighbors together through events. The group held a review session on October 9, and all members committed to return for 2026.

Stone Soup at the Linear Park

On October 10, neighbors gathered at the Linear Park for the second annual Stone Soup event. Eighteen people attended, and the gathering continued into the evening, ending around 9:00pm as neighbors stayed to visit. Some attendees made s’mores for the first time. Neighbors shared interest in continuing this event in the future.

Halloween After Party on 21st Street

On October 31, neighbors on 21st Street hosted a block gathering called the Halloween After Party. This was the first time the block held the event, with a neighbor taking the lead to coordinate with 3Sixty. Support included flyers, cider and donuts, and yard games. About 40 neighbors attended, and participants expressed interest in hosting the event again next year.

New Rhythms Through Game Night

In November, neighbors began a weekly Game Night group that meets to share a meal and play games together. Sixteen people attended the first gathering, with later sessions seeing between two and eight participants. In total, neighbors hosted five gatherings during the quarter. The group hopes to continue meeting and plans to move gatherings to Stovetop Roaster when the business opens in the neighborhood in February.

Staying Connected and Looking Ahead

3Sixty supports neighborhood communication through a monthly Eastcore newsletter, a private Facebook group, and group text threads for the Linear Park team and the Dream Team. The 3Sixty Hub also serves as a gathering space for meetings and provides office space for 3Sixty and Community Teams, as enjoying the company of our downstairs neighbors, Paulo’s Pizza.

Looking ahead, neighbors will gather for Brunch on the Block on February 28 from 10a-12p at 14th Street CRC. The gathering will recognize those who have helped make neighbor connections possible and provide space for listening and sharing ideas.

The Linear Park Team will begin its spring season in April with Wednesday and Friday work sessions. Saturday sessions will also be added, beginning with coffee and donuts. Every other Friday, social gatherings will take place from April through October.

Together, these fall activities reflect neighbors continuing to show up for their community through shared leadership, participation, and time spent together.
