Welcome to Montello Park

3Sixty believes that Montello Park is full of assets and strengths that can be leveraged to make it a better place for everyone living here. A westside neighborhood of Holland, Michigan, Montello Park is located from South Shore Drive to 32nd St, between Ottawa and Graafschap. Home to Doeb’s Pizza, Calvary Schools of Holland, Tulip City Brewery, Jackie’s Place, Latin Americans United for Progress, as well as five (5) congregations, Montello Park is a diverse community of small businesses and starter-homes that were originally built as workforce housing for local manufacturers, including the Heinz factory located in Montello Park.

Montello Park - Team

In 2022, 3Sixty came alongside four congregations all worshiping in Montello Park to organize a neighborhood celebration for National Good Neighbor Day (September 28) as a way to build relationships between the congregations as well as foster stronger connections to neighbors, together.

From that initial event, 3Sixty has continued to host regular meetings for representative leaders from All Saints Holland Anglican Church, Christ Memorial Church, My Father’s House/La Casa de Mi Padre, and Real Life Fellowship, as well as Montello Park residents and business owners.

Montello Park - National Good Neighbor Day

In 2022, 3Sixty came alongside four congregations all worshiping in Montello Park to organize a neighborhood celebration for National Good Neighbor Day (September 28) as a way to build relationships between congregations as well as foster stronger connections with neighbors.

Before the event, 3Sixty led members of all four congregations in door-knocking throughout the neighborhood, listening for stories of good neighbors. On September 28, 2022, over 110 residents and parishioners came out for our National Good Neighbor Day Event, which spanned four city blocks down Plasman Avenue, connecting two church buildings! Two local restaurants—Jackie's Place and DeBoer's Bakery—donated a total of four gift cards to give to four different Good Neighbors of Montello Park. We asked Montello Park residents to nominate a good neighbor and received 14 nominations. We drew names out of a hat and four neighbors received a gift card to a local restaurant as well as a Montello Park Neighbors t-shirt, supplied by Silkscreen Marketing. In addition to the four churches present, we included Silkscreen Marketing, Herrick District Library, and the Holland Police Department. Silkscreen designed and screen printed Montello Park Neighbors t-shirts for attendees using their Printmobile, the Holland Police Department brought their "Polar Patrol" ice cream truck, and the Herrick District Library staff recorded stories of good neighbors, which have been cataloged within their Holland Story Project archive.

Through our canvassing and our event, our goal was to build relationships and identify credible leaders that the congregations could celebrate and support to make Montello Park a more connected, flourishing neighborhood.
