Welcome to Eastcore

Eastcore is the east-central neighborhood of Holland, Michigan’s “Core City.” Running from 13th Street to 24th Street, between River Avenue and Lincoln Avenue, Eastcore is home to Rosa Parks Green, the 3Sixty Midtown Hub, Petrino’s Pizzeria, Mi Favorita, Baker Lofts, Black River Public Schools, Prospect Park, as well as two (2) congregations, 14th Street Christian Reformed Church and Iglesia Misionera Cristiana.

According to a neighborhood-wide survey 3Sixty completed in 2019, 71% of respondents reported having a household income of $20,000 - $60,000 per year, which is considered low-income by area standards. 66% of respondents identified as white, 17% Hispanic, 7% Black, 6% Biracial, 2% Asian, 0.5% Native American, and 1.5% other. As far as housing demographics, 37% of respondents reported renting their home, while 63% reported owning.

Eastcore - Team

Since day one, 3Sixty has been neighbor-led. Over the years, we have worked to organize invested neighbors around common interests and aspirations to make Eastcore a flourishing neighborhood: one where everyone is equally known and committed to the wellbeing of our community.

This group of Eastcore Neighbors is led by Lori Appeldoorn, who has lived in Eastcore for 34 years. Lori’s passion for the alleyway running behind her home was the avenue that ultimately led to leadership with 3sixty. After a successful grant project with the City of Holland and 3Sixty, Lori joined a group of other Eastcore neighbors to help guide 3Sixty’s listening and development efforts.

“If you’ve got to be happy, it’s got to start right here, right now.” - Lori Appeldoorn

Eastcore - City Shapers

In August of 2021, the Lupton Center selected 3Sixty as a Catalyst to launch a City Shapers cohort here in Holland. Under the guidance of Lupton Center staff, our City Shapers cohort has been equipping community stakeholders with the tools and know-how to produce sustainable change in our Eastcore neighborhood. Our cohort is composed of 24 members that include Eastcore residents, business owners, city employees, faith leaders, nonprofit workers, and more.
